Interviews

The following criteria have been established to help us select applicants for interview:

  • Graduation date from medical school must not exceed one year from the date when the application is received in our office.
  • Applicants must have US citizenship, permanent Visa, or a J-1 Visa.
  • All applicants must have successfully passed USMLE or the COMLEX Step I examination (and obviously must eventually pass the Step II exam by the time they would matriculate into residency).
  • If an applicant has trained in a foreign medical school, he/she must be certified by ECFMG.
  • Applicant must be able to be licensed in the state of Kansas
  • No U.S. clinical experience is required.
  • All applications must be received through ERAS only

The interview day consists of multiple interviews by the director and faculty members as well asĀ current residents on both of our clinical campuses. Applicants will have an opportunity to meet a large number of residents and faculty through the process, including dinner the night before the interview, lunch on the actual day of the interview, and through our tours of the various facilities that we work within. Our applicants are provided 1-night’s lodging at a local hotel (Fairfield Inn in downtown Wichita 2011-2012) close to both Via Christi campuses.

Osteopathic (D.O.) applicants may apply for either our four designated AOA internship “slots”, the 14 general resident positions, or for both. Allopathic (M.D.) applicants should apply for the 14 general resident positions.
