Interviews

The following criteria have been established to help us select applicants for interview:

  • Graduation date from medical school must not exceed one year from the date when the application is received in our office.
  • Applicants must have US citizenship, permanent Visa, or a J-1 Visa.
  • All applicants must have successfully passed USMLE or the COMLEX Step I examination (and obviously must eventually pass the Step II exam by the time they would matriculate into residency).
  • If an applicant has trained in a foreign medical school, he/she must be certified by ECFMG.
  • Applicant must be able to be licensed in the state of Kansas
  • No U.S. clinical experience is required.
  • All applications must be received through ERAS only

The interview day consists of multiple interviews by members of our staff and current residents on both of our clinical campuses. Applicants will have an opportunity to meet a large number of residents and staff through the process, including dinner the night before the interview, lunch on the actual day, and through our tour. Our applicants stay at the beautiful Inn at the Park, a bed and breakfast close to both Via Christi campuses. For applicants traveling greater than 500 miles, a limited number of stipends are available.

Osteopathic (D.O.) applicants may apply for either the four designated AOA internship “slots,” for the 14 general positions, or for both. Allopathic (M.D.) applicants should apply for the general positions.
